Rishabh Pant Claims India Would Have Scored 300+ If He Played in 2023 World Cup Final vs Australia

Rishabh Pant thinks the team would have either been bowled out for 200 or scored over 300 if he had played against Australia.

Rishabh Pant has made a sensational statement, suggesting India could have won the 2023 ODI World Cup final if he had been fit to play.

Speaking on India TV’s “Aap Ki Adalat” show, Pant claimed India’s batting in the final against Australia would have been drastically different with him in the lineup.

“If I had played the 2023 Cricket World Cup Final,” Pant said, “we would have either been all out for 150 or 200 runs or would have scored over 300+ runs.”

This bold statement comes after India’s disappointing loss to Australia in the 2023 final, where the batting collapsed, mustering only 240 runs.

Rishabh Pant’s Emphatic Return

Rishabh Pant‘s absence due to injury was a significant blow to India’s batting firepower in the middle. He only returned to competitive cricket during IPL 2024.

Upon returning, he amassed 446 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 155.40 and an average of 40.55. Impressed with his comeback, the BCCI named him in the 15-member 2024 World Cup squad.

The Indian wicket-keeper batter smashed a quickfire 53 off 32 balls against Bangladesh in a warm-up match and followed it up with a crucial 36 off 26 balls against Ireland and 42 off 31 balls against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.
