Ojha, 39, was a left-arm spinner who played 24 Tests, 18 ODIs and six T20Is, finishing with 144 wickets. He also represented Hyderabad, Bengal and Bihar in domestic cricket, and recently served on the IPL Governing Council.

RP Singh, a left-arm fast bowler, was part of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup-winning squad. He played 82 internationals and claimed 124 wickets.

After retirement, he worked with the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) and later became a well-known TV commentator.

The BCCI had received applications from several other former players, including Praveen Kumar, Amay Khurasiya, Ashish Winston Zaidi and Shakti Singh.

As per the BCCI’s criteria, candidates must have played at least seven Tests, or 30 First-Class matches, or 10 ODIs along with 20 First-Class games.

They must also have retired from professional cricket at least five years ago and not served on a BCCI cricket committee for more than five years in total.

Ojha and RP Singh will now work alongside the existing selectors to oversee India’s men’s senior team selections across formats.
