PCB Urges ICC to Convince India to Travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025

The PCB leaves it up to ICC to convince India to travel to Pakistan for 2025 Champions Trophy.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly left it to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to persuade the Indian cricket team to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Pakistan has secured the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy 2025. This will be the first time in many years that Pakistan will host a major ICC tournament, and they are keen on having all the teams participate in the event.

However, the Indian cricket team is unlikely to travel to Pakistan due to ongoing political tensions between the two nations. Pakistan has insisted on not organizing the tournament in a hybrid model this time and wants India to play in Pakistan.

No BCCI-PCB Dialogue at ICC Annual Conference on India’s Participation in 2025 Champions Trophy

Reports indicate that there was no discussion about India’s travel to Pakistan during the ICC Annual Conference held in Colombo a few days ago.

“It wasn’t on the agenda so it wasn’t brought up or discussed during the Annual General Meeting,” an official was quoted as saying according to a report on News18 Cricketnext.

The BCCI has consistently stated that the Indian cricket team will travel to Pakistan only if permitted by the Indian government, and it is highly unlikely that the government will grant this permission.

PCB Making All Arrangements for India

The PCB is making arrangements to facilitate India’s participation by ensuring tight security. They have also informed the ICC that they are prepared to schedule all of India’s matches in Lahore to minimize travel and other logistical issues.

The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to take place from February next year. Although there is still time before the tournament, it remains highly unlikely that the Indian cricket team will travel to Pakistan for the marquee event.
