PBKS 2026 Retentions: Retained & Released Players List of Punjab Kings Ahead of IPL 2026 Auction
PBKS retain 21 players, release Maxwell and Inglis, and enter the IPL 2026 mini auction with ₹11.5 crore.
Punjab Kings have chosen trust over change after their impressive run to the IPL 2025 final. The franchise kept 21 players, showing full faith in the squad that topped the league stage and pushed through to the title clash. Captain Shreyas Iyer, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal remain the pillars of the group.
The batting unit stays steady with Shashank Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Priyansh Arya, and Prabhsimran Singh all retained. The all round group led by Marcus Stoinis and Azmatullah Omarzai also continues untouched. In the bowling unit, Lockie Ferguson, Marco Jansen, Harpreet Brar, and Xavier Bartlett provide strength across phases.
The biggest exit is Glenn Maxwell. PBKS let him go again after another quiet season. His form dipped badly in 2025 and the team felt they could use the funds more effectively at the auction. Josh Inglis was also released after he told the management he would not be available for the full 2026 season. Aaron Hardie and Kuldeep Sen were the other names released.
PBKS did not make any trades this time. The management said they were satisfied with the overall balance of the squad and wanted to avoid unnecessary changes before the season.
Punjab now head into the IPL 2026 mini auction with ₹11.5 crore. That is not the biggest purse, but it is enough for one overseas signing and a few backups. The team is expected to chase a finisher to replace Maxwell and a wicketkeeper option to cover for Inglis.
