PAK vs ENG: Firing Near England Team Hotel in Pakistan
An act of violence took place near the England team hotel in Pakistan.
Ben Stokes-led England is currently in Pakistan for a historic three-match Test series. The visitors started the series on a winning note as England thrashed Pakistan by 74 runs in the first Test at Rawalpindi to take an early lead.
The two teams will now lock horns in the second Test, set to be played in Multan from Friday, December 14. However, ahead of the second Test, something happened which has shaken the English camp.
As per a report by The Mirror, gunshots were heard within 1 kilometre of range from the hotel where team England is currently staying. The incident took place in the morning and no fatality has been reported so far.
Later, an English journalist Lawrence Booth confirmed that four people were arrested after the firing and no one was injured.
“Gunshots heard 1km from England’s team hotel this morning in Multan. Two rival gangs, it seems. Four arrests were made, and no one was injured. The team’s security plans remain unaffected before tomorrow’s second Test against Pakistan,” the tweet read.
As for the second Test, Mark Wood returned as England announced the playing XI for the Multan Test. The premier pacer will replace Liam Livingstone in the English lineup.
The white-ball expert picked up an injury during his debut Test in Rawalpindi and ruled out the remaining series. He has travelled back to England for rehabilitation and recovery.
