OUT or NOT OUT? Muneeba Ali’s Controversial Run-Out Sends Pakistan Camp Into Meltdown
Muneeba Ali’s controversial run-out in the India vs Pakistan Women’s World Cup 2025 match sparked heated arguments and confusion as Pakistan protested the umpire’s reversal of decision in Colombo.
Colombo turned into a cauldron of tension on Sunday as a massive controversy erupted during the India vs Pakistan Women’s World Cup 2025 clash.
What began as a routine appeal quickly turned into one of the most debated moments of the tournament, leaving both teams visibly frustrated and fans divided.
Batting first, India posted a competitive total of 247, with Harmanpreet Kaur leading from the front. But during Pakistan’s chase, an incident in the fourth over changed the entire atmosphere.
Kranti Goud’s delivery struck Muneeba Ali on the pad and rolled toward the off side. The Indian fielders appealed for an LBW, which the umpire turned down.
In the chaos that followed, Deepti Sharma fired a direct hit at the stumps and though Muneeba’s bat was grounded initially, she casually lifted it just before the ball hit the stumps.
India immediately went for a run-out appeal. The on-field umpire first gave it not out but changed it to out after a recheck, catching Pakistan off guard.
The decision sparked an animated protest from captain Fatima Sana, who argued that the updated MCC law protects batters if the bat bounces while diving.
However, replays showed Muneeba wasn’t diving or running, she had simply lifted her bat, making her dismissal valid as per the rulebook.
Despite Pakistan’s frustration, the umpire stood firm on the decision. Muneeba Ali eventually walked off the field, visibly disappointed, while Harmanpreet Kaur was also seen speaking to the officials about the confusion.
