ODI World Cup 2023: Herschelle Gibbs Trolls Babar Azam for Turtle-Paced Knock in New Zealand Match

Herschelle Gibbs takes a swipe at Babar Azam's leisurely innings against New Zealand.

Former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs, took a dig at Pakistan captain Babar Azam for his slow paced knock while chasing the mammoth 401-run target against New Zealand.

Babar Azam got called in early thanks to Abdullah Shafique‘s early exit. He played it cool, like the steady anchor, while Fakhar Zaman decided to show the Kiwi bowlers no mercy.

Babar managed 47 off 51, but Zaman was on fire, with 106 off 69, including seven fours and nine huge sixes, before the rain halted the innings.

Meanwhile, Herschelle Gibbs wasn’t thrilled with Babar Azam’s relatively low strike rate, so he went on to ask if he was aware that his team had the challenging task of chasing down 401 runs. Here’s what Herschelle Gibbs said:

Earlier, New Zealand’s batting showcase featured a remarkable 108 from Rachin Ravindra and an impressive 95-run innings by their captain, Kane Williamson, resulting in a mammoth total of 400 runs on the board.
