New Zealand vs Sri Lanka, T20 World Cup 2022: Sri Lanka suffered another thumping defeat with their net run rate taking another nose dive.

NZ vs SL: New Zealand’s winning juggernaut continues to roll on as they outclassed Sri Lanka by 65 runs on Saturday, October 29 at Sydney Cricket Ground to retain their top spot in the Group 1 points table of T20 World Cup 2022.

Chasing the stiff target of 168 runs, Sri Lanka bundled out for 102 runs with only Bhanuka Rajapaksa (34 off 22) and skipper Dasun Shanaka (35 off 32) managing to touch two-digit figures.

For New Zealand, the left-arm quick Trent Boult was the wrecker-in-chief as he picked a four-wicket haul while conceding just 13 runs in his four overs’ spell. Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi also got two scalps each.

Earlier, Glenn Phillips’ 104 off 64 balls guided the Blackcaps to 167 for 7 despite the side being reduced to 15 for 3 at one stage after their skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bat first.

For Sri Lanka, Kausn Rajitha picked two wickets while conceding 23 runs in his four overs’ quota while the likes of Lahiru Kumara, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Maheesh Theekshana picked a wicket each.
