“Not KL Rahul’s Fault” – Shubman Gill Breaks Silence On Rishabh Pant’s Costly Run-Out

Shubman Gill says Rishabh Pant’s run-out was the turning point in Lord’s Test loss.

India’s hopes of taking the lead in the England Test series were crushed at Lord’s, with a narrow 22-run defeat that left captain Shubman Gill disappointed but proud of the fight shown.

After the loss, Gill pointed to Rishabh Pant’s run-out in the first innings as a moment that changed the game.

Gill Opens Up on Pant’s Run-Out

India were on course for a first-innings lead thanks to a brilliant partnership between KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant.

But the momentum shifted when Pant, batting with a taped finger, got run out on 74 after a mix-up with Rahul.

The team ended up scoring 387 — exactly England’s total — instead of pushing for a lead.

Speaking after the match, Gill clarified the confusion surrounding that dismissal.

“It wasn’t about personal milestones. It was just a misjudgment. Rishabh called for the run, and KL was running to the danger end. These things happen in cricket,” he said.

Pant’s dismissal came at a time when India looked dominant. He and Rahul had stitched together a 141-run partnership, frustrating England’s bowlers on Day 3.

India were chasing 193 on a tricky surface, and after losing wickets in the morning session, it was Jadeja’s calm resistance that brought them close.

But the innings ended when Shoaib Bashir bowled Mohammed Siraj, leaving Jadeja stranded and India heartbroken. India now trail 1-2 in the five-match series with two more games to go.
