No Rift, Says Sitanshu Kotak as He Dismisses Miscommunication Talk Between Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir
Sitanshu Kotak denies rumours of rift between Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir, says Team India is united.
India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has firmly rejected rumours of any rift or miscommunication between senior players Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and head coach Gautam Gambhir.
Speaking at a press conference, Kotak said there is no truth to claims of tension inside the dressing room. He stressed that the senior players are professional, involved, and in constant touch with the coaching staff.
Kotak said he regularly sees Kohli and Rohit talking with Gambhir. According to him, these are normal cricket conversations that happen every day in a professional team environment.
He added that the senior duo is actively discussing plans for upcoming ODI matches. Long-term goals, including preparation for the 2027 ODI World Cup, are also part of these talks.
Kotak made it clear that both Kohli and Rohit remain deeply involved in team planning. He said they are not players who need reminders about discipline, preparation, or commitment to the team.
Calling them “thorough professionals,” Kotak said their approach to the game sets an example for others. He explained that their experience helps the team, especially younger players who benefit from their ideas and guidance.
The batting coach also addressed the role of social media in spreading rumours. He said he personally avoids reading speculation and unnecessary chatter online, as it often creates stories that do not exist on the ground.
Kotak stressed that the team management and senior players are completely aligned. He said everyone is on the same page when it comes to selection, planning, and match preparation.
He also highlighted the personal discipline of Kohli and Rohit. Kotak said both players are very careful about their individual planning, including practice routines and fitness work.
Dismissing reports of a communication breakdown, Kotak said the message is simple. There is no issue between the coach and senior players, and there never has been one.
He added that the team’s main focus is on present assignments. While future tournaments are discussed, these talks are part of normal planning and not a source of conflict.
