No Dhoni, Nor Kohli; KL Rahul Names His Biggest Cricket Inspiration
Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul revealed his on-field cricketing inspiration in a recent interview
Having been part of the dressing room alongside him during the early years of the Indian Premier League (IPL), India’s KL Rahul names former South African captain AB de Villiers as his cricketing inspiration.
Rahul shared the field with de Villiers for two seasons (2013 and 2016) during his stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
In a recent conversation, when asked about his cricketing inspiration, Rahul chose his father for off-the-field guidance and named his former RCB teammate de Villiers as his on-field inspiration.
“In life, my father, but on the cricket field, I have been very inspired by AB de Villiers,” Rahul said in a video uploaded by Star Sports.
After starting his IPL career with RCB in 2013, Rahul moved to SunRisers Hyderabad in 2014. However, he returned to RCB in 2016, contributing significantly to their journey to the final, where they eventually lost to his former franchise SRH.
