Mustafizur Rahman’s IPL Future Uncertain Due to NOC and Schedule Conflict

Delhi Capitals pick Mustafizur Rahman for IPL 2025, but BCB says no NOC request has been made for the pacer

Delhi Capitals have named Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk in their IPL 2025 squad. However, confusion followed soon after, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealed it has not been approached for a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the left-arm fast bowler.

BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said there has been no official request from either the IPL or Mustafizur himself regarding his availability.

“Mustafizur is supposed to go with the team to the UAE according to the schedule. We have not received any communication from IPL officials. I have also not received any such official communication from Mustafizur either,” Chowdhury told ESPNcricinfo.

Mustafizur flew to Dubai with the Bangladesh national team on Wednesday, just hours after Delhi Capitals announced his signing. He is part of the Bangladesh squad for their T20I series against UAE and Pakistan, which runs from May 17 to June 3 the exact window when Delhi Capitals are scheduled to play their remaining IPL matches and possibly the playoffs.

This creates a scheduling conflict that might prevent Mustafizur from joining the Delhi squad unless a late agreement is reached between the IPL and BCB. As of now, it looks unlikely that he will be released from national duties.

Jake Fraser-McGurk’s exit is a big blow to Delhi, especially considering his form this season. With his absence, Delhi were hoping Mustafizur could bring in some experience and skill with the ball. But without the necessary clearance, DC may need to rethink their plans quickly.

It remains to be seen whether the BCB changes its stance or Delhi Capitals name another replacement. Until then, Mustafizur’s role in IPL 2025 remains uncertain.
