Most Teams Will Look For Glenn Maxwell in The Next IPL Auction: Michael Vaughan
Glenn Maxwell's performance has certainly impressed former England captain Michael Vaughan who feels that most of the IPL teams would go after him in the mega auctions ahead for the 2021 season.
Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan believes that Glenn Maxwell will be a most demanding player in the upcoming IPL 2021 auction. In the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, the Australian batsman couldn’t make much of an impact. He didn’t hit even a single six in the tournament and became the centre of criticism.
In the IPL 2020, playing for KXIP, Maxwell managed only 108 runs from 11 innings at an ordinary average of 15.42 and strike-rate of 101.88.
However, the Australian has found his hands after returning to Australia colours. In the just-concluded ODI series against India, the Victorian smashed 167 runs at an average of 83.50 and at a strike rate of 194.18. He also smashed 12 fours and 11 sixes- the most by any batsman in the series. Vaughan heaping high praise on the Aussie batsman reckons that the Australian team has provided Maxwell with an appropriate slot where he can come and take the opposition bowling to the cleaners.
“I don’t think there is any white-ball team in the world that wouldn’t want Maxwell. I’m pretty sure next time in the IPL auction, most of the teams will look for Maxwell. Look what Australia have done, they have found the right place for him – at no. 7, and I don’t think they’ll move him too much unless obviously, they get off to the fliers,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.
Speaking on Maxwell’s fielding skills, Vaughan said that Maxwell is a pretty good fielder, who can easily save crucial runs for his side.
“I think his fielding is pretty much guaranteed that he is going to probably save 5 to 10 runs in the field. So, he is already in my eyes when he goes out to bat, on 10. I mention that most of the batsmen start on nought, Maxwell starts on 10 because he is that good in the field,” he stated.
“As I said there is no team in the world that wouldn’t want Glenn Maxwell with what he brings all around,” Vaughan added.
