Mohsin Naqvi Ready to Return Asia Cup Trophy, But With Conditions

BCCI demands Mohsin Naqvi return Asia Cup trophy after India refused to accept it from him following 2025 final.

The BCCI has formally protested Mohsin Naqvi’s actions at the 2025 Asia Cup final. At a recent ACC meeting in Dubai, India’s representatives, vice-president Rajeev Shukla and former treasurer Ashish Shelar, insisted that Naqvi congratulate India for their win and return the trophy immediately.

Sources say the Indian side told Naqvi, who serves as both ACC chairman and PCB chief, that they are ready to take the matter to the ICC if needed. Shelar reportedly walked out of the meeting midway in protest against Naqvi’s behaviour.

India had refused to accept the trophy directly from Naqvi after their five-wicket win over Pakistan, citing his anti-India social media posts and political position. Naqvi reportedly rejected all compromise and insisted he alone would hand over the silverware.

Alternatives like handing it via Emirates Cricket Board or Bangladesh Cricket Board officials were turned down.

During the post-match ceremony, Naqvi and ACC officials left the stage with the trophy and medals, leaving the Indian team to celebrate on their own.

The players jokingly raised imaginary trophies and coffee mugs to mark their win, a gesture that quickly went viral on social media.

Some reports suggest Naqvi is willing to return the trophy but only through an official event first. The BCCI is pushing for a swift resolution to ensure the Asia Cup’s integrity is maintained.
