‘Melbourne Knock against Pakistan Is Personal Favourite’ – Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli played a match-winning knock of 82 runs to take India over the finish line against Pakistan

The Indian batting giant, Virat Kohli, reminisced about his T20 World Cup 2022 innings against Pakistan in Melbourne, saying the match-winning knock is the most beloved innings of his career.

The ex-Indian skipper delivered an unbeaten innings of 82 to steer his team to a four-wicket victory over Pakistan in Melbourne on October 23, 2022. In a recent event organised by PUMA, here’s what Kohli said:

“My most loved innings is against Pakistan in the T20I World Cup at Melbourne.”

Kohli partnered with Hardik Pandya to take India’s opening match against Pakistan down to the wire, with Kohli holding the innings together while Pandya played a supporting role.

With India requiring 16 runs off the last over, the fourth delivery was smashed for a six, but the umpire deemed it a no-ball due to its height, granting Kohli a free hit. Mohammad Nawaz then followed with a wide, and India capitalised by scoring three runs on the free hit.

Amidst mounting pressure, the Pakistan bowler erred again, conceding a wide with India needing only two runs off two balls. Ravichandran Ashwin then cleverly manoeuvred the ball past the infield for a single, igniting celebrations in the Indian dugout.
