Maharashtra Captain Reveals the Details of Prithvi Shaw-Musheer Khan Fight

Prithvi Shaw loses cool at Musheer Khan in Maharashtra-Mumbai practice match; captain Bawne says all is settled.

Tuesday’s practice game between Maharashtra and Mumbai in Pune was meant to be a warm-up ahead of the Ranji Trophy season. But it turned into a tense moment when Prithvi Shaw lost his cool after getting out against his former teammates.

Shaw was in brilliant form, scoring 181 off 220 balls with 21 fours and 3 sixes. He shared a massive 305-run partnership with Arshin Kulkarni, who made 186. The game looked set to be a showcase of Maharashtra’s batting strength.

The trouble began in the 74th over. Shaw tried to hit a big shot off Mumbai spinner Musheer Khan but was caught at deep fine leg. Musheer, in a sarcastic tone, said “Thank you” after taking the wicket.

That was all it took to set Shaw off. Shaw angrily turned around, walked straight toward Musheer, and raised his bat. Eyewitnesses said he even grabbed Musheer by the collar before players and the umpire stepped in to calm things down.

Fans at the ground said there had been light sledging during Shaw’s innings, but the sarcastic send-off seemed to push him over the edge. Clips of the confrontation quickly went viral on social media.

Afterwards, Maharashtra captain Ankit Bawne called it a minor incident. “It’s a practice match. They are former teammates. These things happen. All is fine now,” he said.

Both cricket boards, Maharashtra and Mumbai, have not announced any disciplinary action. Reports suggest the players have moved on, and the clash is being treated as an emotional outburst rather than a serious conflict.
