Lucknow IPL Team Named Lucknow Super Giants: IPL 2022
The new IPL Lucknow franchise will be known as Lucknow Super Giants. The announcement was made by Sanjiv Goenka.
The new Lucknow franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be called ‘Lucknow Super Giants’, announced the team on Twitter on Monday.
Lucknow has opted to go with KL Rahul (Rs 17 crore), Marcus Stoinis (Rs 9.2 crore), and Ravi Bishnoi (Rs 4 crore) for the IPL 2022. KL Rahul will don the captaincy hat.
“Thank you so much for your overwhelming response to the Naam Banao, Naam Kamao contest. Lacs and lacs and lacks of people responded, and based on that we are very happy to choose the name for the Lucknow IPL team,” Goenka said in a video uploaded on LSG’s official Twitter handle.
And the name that we have chosen on your recommendations is ‘Lucknow Super Giants’. Thank you so much your response and love, and continue to give us your blessings in the future as well,” Goenka added.
Last year, the franchise was purchased by the Sanjiv Goenka-owned of the RPSG group for an amount of Rs 7090 Crores. The other new team to enter the tournament is from Ahmedabad who were bought by the Irelia Company Ptv Ltd. (CVC Capital Partners) for Rs 5635 Crores.
The two-day mega auction will see 10 teams bidding for some of the finest talents in world cricket. The players’ list incorporates 270 capped, 903 uncapped, and 41 Associate players.
