Krishnappa Gowtham Defends Sanjiv Goenka’s Reaction to KL Rahul After SRH Defeat in IPL 2024

Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of the LSG had an animated conversation with KL Rahul on camera.

The owner of Lucknow Super Giants, Sanjiv Goenka, had an animated conversation with the team captain, KL Rahul, following their disappointing and embarrassing defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a must-win match in IPL 2024.

However, things escalated when Sanjiv Goenka was seen scolding KL Rahul on camera. The video quickly went viral on social media, with the owner facing heavy criticism for his treatment of the player.

Following this incident, reports began circulating about KL Rahul possibly leaving the franchise and joining another team in IPL 2025. However, nothing has been confirmed yet, as he recently met with Sanjeev Goenka in Kolkata.

Months after the incident, Krishnappa Gowtham, the all-rounder from LSG revealed some details about the conversation, stating that Goenka was disappointed with the team’s performance in the must-win match.

Additionally, he mentioned that KL Rahul did not blame or take sides with any player and remained calm and quiet throughout the situation. Here is what Krishnappa Gowtham shared in an exclusive conversation with CricTracker:

He [franchise owner Sanjeev Goenka] was a little disappointed with the way [we] lost the game. KL being KL, he kept his calm. He heard him out. He didn’t take either of the side. He didn’t take the owner’s side or the players’ side. He kept his calm and was listening to everything because he had to analyse it before explaining it [to Goenka on what went wrong]. He wants us to win everything and he wants us to enjoy that. [The loss] disappointed him and that’s why he reacted the way he reacted,” Gowtham said.
