KL Rahul Set to Leave LSG and Join RCB for IPL 2025 – Report
KL Rahul is expected to part ways with LSG before IPL 2025 mega auction.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is anticipated to be exciting, with several big names, including Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and KL Rahul, expected to come under the hammer.
Although these are just reports, speculation about KL Rahul leaving the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has been ongoing since LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka scolded him on camera during IPL 2024.
Since then, it has been reported that KL Rahul is unhappy with the treatment he received and is expected to leave LSG before IPL 2025.
Notably, LSG signed KL Rahul directly ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. He led the team for three years, guiding them to the playoffs in the first two seasons. However, in the IPL 2024 season, they failed to qualify for the playoffs.
KL Rahul and RCB: A Possible Comeback in IPL 2025?
KL Rahul, born in Karnataka, previously represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) from 2013 to 2016 before being released. He later joined the Punjab Kings, where he had outstanding performances.
With the 2025 mega auction approaching, reports suggest that RCB might be interested in KL Rahul again, especially after Dinesh Karthik retired from IPL following IPL 2024. The team is in need of a wicketkeeper-batter.
Additionally, there are reports that the management is considering an Indian captain, and since Virat Kohli is not ready to take on the role again, they might hand it over to KL Rahul. It is worth mentioning that Rahul is regarded as one of the finest captains in the IPL.
However, nothing has been confirmed yet, and clarity will emerge once the BCCI announces the retention rules, including how many players a franchise can retain before the IPL 2025 mega auction.
