KKR Set to Sack Chandrakant Pandit? World Cup-Winning Captain Lined Up as New Head Coach

KKR are reportedly planning to replace head coach Chandrakant Pandit and bowling coach Dwayne Bravo after a poor IPL season, with Eoin Morgan being considered for the top role.

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) could make big changes in their coaching staff ahead of the next IPL season after their poor run this year. After winning the title last season, the team failed to perform this time and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Disappointing Season for KKR

KKR made a few bold calls ahead of IPL 2025. They changed their captain, giving the role to Ajinkya Rahane instead of Shreyas Iyer. The decision did not work, as the team struggled throughout the season.

Another major move that raised eyebrows was spending ₹23.75 crore on Venkatesh Iyer during the mega option, which also did not pay off. With such decisions backfiring, changes are now expected, especially in the coaching department.

Eoin Morgan In Line To Replace Chandrakant Pandit?

As per a report by Anandabazar Patrika, KKR are thinking about removing Chandrakant Pandit as their head coach. The franchise is reportedly considering Eoin Morgan as a strong candidate to take over the role.

Morgan is a former England captain who led his country to their first-ever ODI World Cup title in 2019. He also captained KKR in the IPL 2021 season and took the team to the final.

Morgan is respected within the KKR camp and played a key role in their success during his time with the team. The franchise believes his leadership skills and modern approach could help turn things around.

Dwayne Bravo’s Future Also Uncertain

Bowling coach Dwayne Bravo might also face the axe. Reports suggest that KKR management is unhappy with the Bravo-Pandit partnership. While Bravo is liked by players in the dressing room, the management feels he hasn’t taken his role seriously this season.

Last year, KKR’s bowling unit performed very well, but this season, most of their bowlers failed to deliver. This has led to doubts over Bravo’s role in the setup, and a change in the bowling coach position could be on the cards.

With these developments, it seems KKR could go through a major reshuffle ahead of IPL 2026, starting with the coaching staff.
