‘Jeet K Jana Hai’ – Virat Kohli’s Final Words to Rohit Sharma Before T20I Retirement

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retired from T20Is after their World Cup win.

Team India broke their decade-long World Cup Trophy drought on Saturday by defeating South Africa by seven runs, claiming the T20 World Cup. The victory also marked the end of an era with legendary players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retiring from T-20 international cricket.

The iconic pair, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who dedicated their sweat and toil to Team India‘s journey to greatness and led them to World Cup victory, have decided to retire from T20 internationals. They believe it’s time for the next generation to step up.

However, this decision wasn’t made after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. The duo had planned it well before the tournament, with Virat Kohli telling Rohit Sharma that they needed to win this World Cup and end their T20I careers on a high. Here’s what Virat Kohli told Rohit Sharma:

“I told Rohit Sharma before the tournament that hume jeet ke jaana hai iss format se. Glad we did it.”

Although Virat Kohli had difficulty finding his form throughout the T20 World Cup 2024, he rose to the occasion when it mattered most, scoring 76 runs from 59 balls in the final match and helping India reach a respectable total of 176 runs during a collapse.
