Is Bhuvneshwar Kumar Retiring? Instagram Bio Raises Speculations

The last time Bhuvneshwar Kumar played for India was during an ODI against South Africa in the previous year.

India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar dropped the ‘cricketer’ word from his Instagram bio. He used to have ‘Indian cricketer’ on his bio but the 33-year-old has now removed the word from his profile. The new bio reads, “Indian Family First. Pet lover. Casual Gamer.”

The Uttar Pradesh pacer last donned Indian colours against South Africa last year in an ODI at Paarl last year, where he went wicketless in 8 overs. Since then, he has been sidelined from the ODI squad due to a string of injuries and poor form.

By removing ‘Cricketer’ from his Instagram bio, he has set tongues wagging about his potential retirement from international cricket.

Additionally, the fact that he was left out of the BCCI contract list this year and isn’t in the reckoning for the upcoming ODI World Cup adds weight to these retirement speculations.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, whose cricketing journey has been plagued by injuries, played 21 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 48 T20Is for India, where he picked up 63, 132 and 49 wickets respectively.
