IPL 2026: Ravindra Jadeja to be Traded to Rajasthan Royals Along With One Other Player
Sanju Samson is likely to join Chennai Super Kings in a mega swap deal involving Ravindra Jadeja and one other CSK player, with talks in the final stage before the IPL 2026 retention deadline.
Sanju Samson could soon be donning the yellow jersey, as Chennai Super Kings are reportedly in advanced talks with Rajasthan Royals for a blockbuster swap deal involving Ravindra Jadeja and one more player, either Sam Curran or Matheesha Pathirana.
According to The Indian Express, discussions between the two franchises have been ongoing for nearly five months.
The deal is expected to be finalized before the IPL 2026 retention deadline on November 15, once the second player from CSK’s side is confirmed.
If completed, this would mark one of the most high-profile transfers in IPL history and end months of speculation over Samson’s future with Rajasthan Royals.
Samson, who has been the face of RR for several seasons, reportedly held talks with the CSK management during the Major League Cricket season in the US.
Sources suggest the Super Kings see him as a long-term replacement for MS Dhoni, who is now 44 and yet to confirm if he will play another season.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan had recently said that the franchise “hopes Dhoni plays next season,” but the potential arrival of Samson could change that equation entirely.
For Rajasthan, the trade could bring back Ravindra Jadeja, who started his IPL career with the Royals in 2008. The possible addition of either Curran or Pathirana would further strengthen their all-round depth ahead of IPL 2026.
As of now, both franchises are silent on the talks, but with the retention deadline approaching fast, an official announcement could be just around the corner.
