IPL 2025: Yuzvendra Chahal Ruled Out of Crucial Match Against Mumbai Indians
Yuzvendra Chahal has been ruled out of Punjab Kings' must-win match against Mumbai Indians due to a wrist injury.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have been hit with a big blow ahead of their most important match of the season. Their star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been ruled out of the upcoming match against Mumbai Indians due to a wrist injury.
Chahal had already missed PBKS’s previous match against Delhi Capitals, which took place on May 24 in Jaipur. After the game, PBKS assistant coach Sunil Joshi said that Chahal had a small niggle and was rested just as a precaution.
“Chahal has a small niggle, so we are just resting him. That’s the idea,” Joshi had said.
However, as per a report from ESPN, it was later confirmed that the injury is related to his wrist, and because of that, he will not be available for the match against Mumbai Indians.
This comes as a huge concern for PBKS, especially with the playoffs nearing. Chahal has been one of the best bowlers for the team this season. In 11 innings, he has picked up 14 wickets and also took a hat-trick against Chennai Super Kings in April.
In the match against Delhi Capitals, PBKS felt his absence badly. The team gave a chance to Praveen Dubey in place of Chahal, but he went wicketless and gave away 20 runs in two overs. Harpreet Brar did manage to take 2 wickets for 41 runs, but the bowling unit overall looked less sharp without Chahal.
PBKS had posted a strong total of 206 runs on the board, thanks to Shreyas Iyer’s half-century and a quick-fire 44 from Marcus Stoinis. But DC chased down the target with six wickets in hand, with Sameer Rizvi scoring an unbeaten 58 off just 25 balls.
This defeat means PBKS now sit at second place with 17 points from 13 matches. To stay in the top two and play Qualifier 1, they must win their final league match against Mumbai Indians. But without Chahal, it won’t be easy, as both teams need to win that game to seal a top-two finish.
