IPL 2025: Punjab Kings Sign In Kyle Jamieson as Replacement for Injured Lockie Ferguson

Kyle Jamieson has replaced injured Lockie Ferguson in the Punjab Kings squad for the rest of IPL 2025.

New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has been named as the replacement for his fellow countryman Lockie Ferguson in the Punjab Kings (PBKS) squad for the remainder of IPL 2025.

The official confirmation came from both the franchise and the Indian Premier League governing body on Thursday, May 15.

Ferguson has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury that he sustained earlier in the season. The Mohali-based franchise moved quickly to rope in Jamieson, who has previous IPL experience with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

According to the IPL’s official press release, Jamieson will join Punjab Kings for INR 2 crore.

“Punjab Kings (PBKS) have picked Kyle Jamieson as a replacement for Lockie Ferguson, who is ruled out of the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a hamstring injury. The right-arm Kiwi pacer will join PBKS for INR 2 crore,” the statement read.

With the tournament entering its final phase, Punjab Kings are hoping that Jamieson’s height and bounce will bring some firepower to their pace attack, which already features the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Xavier Bartlett, and Yash Thakur.

Ferguson’s injury is a blow, but the arrival of Jamieson gives PBKS a like-for-like overseas fast bowling option. Jamieson’s ability to bowl in the powerplay and at the death makes him a useful addition to the team.
