IPL 2024: Top Three Replacements for Mohammed Shami in Gujarat Titans Squad
Mohammed Shami will miss the entire IPL 2024 season due to ankle injury.
In a huge blow to Gujarat Titans, Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to a left ankle injury which would require surgery.
Shami, who served as the spearhead of the Gujarat Titans’ pace attack, leaving the team is a major setback for the franchise, especially following the absence of their dynamic captain, Hardik Pandya.
Let’s take a look at the top three replacements of Mohammed Shami in Gujarat Titans for IPL 2024:
Kamlesh Nagarkoti
Kamlesh Nagarkoti, once the talk of the town destined for Team India, seems to have hit a rough patch. At 24, he still packs a punch with his bowling, a fact Shubman Gill can vouch for after sharing the U-19 dressing room with him for ages.
Gujarat Titans can place their bet on the youngster with Shami being unavailable for the entire season. The Rajasthan pacer has played 25 T20 matches in which he has picked up 19 wickets at an economy rate of 8.14.
KM Asif
There’s no doubt that finding someone to fill Shami’s shoes at GT won’t be a walk in the park. But if experience is the priority, the franchise could turn to the seasoned campaigner Varun Aaron.
Much like Shami, Aaron is known for his hit-the-deck bowling and raw pace. With a stint in the IPL since 2011, he’s claimed 44 wickets in 50 innings.
Raj Limbani
Rising star Raj Limbani made waves at the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 in South Africa, emerging as one of the tournament’s top wicket-takers and a key contributor to India’s runner-up finish.
His standout performance, including a stellar 3/38 spell in the final against Australia, highlighted his talent. With his pace and ability to swing the ball, he could be a great replacement for seasoned pacer like Mohammed Shami.
