IPL 2024: Shamar Joseph Makes Debut, Naveen-Ul-Haq, Devdutt Padikkal Missed Out

Shamar Joseph makes his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants.

Shamar Joseph, the pace sensation from the West Indies, finally made his debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for their IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens, replacing pacer Naveen-ul-Haq.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and opted to field against LSG in the 28th match of the tournament. LSG don a maroon and green jersey, a nod to Bengal’s renowned club Mohun Bagan, deviating from their traditional blue jersey.

Apart from it, Devdutt Padikkal has been dropped from the team after consecutive failures with Deepak Hooda being slotted in the playing XI.

Here’s what LSG captain, KL Rahul said during the toss:

“I would have bowled first, but this does look like a good pitch. It was important to recover on a short turnover, it’s just about making sure that everyone is rested and recovered well. Few changes – Padikkal and Naveen-ul-Haq miss out, Shamar Joseph and Deepak Hooda are back. Mohsin Khan is back as well,” Rahul said at the toss.”

LSG’S Playing XI vs KKR:

Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul(w/c), Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, Shamar Joseph, Yash Thakur
