IPL 2024: Pat Cummins Trolls Team India and Fans For World Cup 2023 Loss
Pat Cummins trolled the Indian team for a World Cup 2023 defeat.
The captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pat Cummins trolled the Indian team and fans during the coin toss in the SRH vs Gujarat Titans (GT) match on Sunday, March 31, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, bringing up memories of the 2023 World Cup final held at the same venue.
Notably, Team India, after winning all the league stage matches in the ODI World Cup 2023, faltered when it mattered most in the final of the tournament against Australia, losing to the Pat Cummins-led side by six wickets.
During the toss banter, Cummins mischievously needled Indian fans, evoking memories of past matches in Ahmedabad with a tongue-in-cheek remark: “We have got wonderful memories of Ahmedabad.”
“We are gonna bat first. Looks a good wicket and it’s very warm. So, happy to bat first. Yeah, have got wonderful memories here. It was a packed-stadium last time I played here and good to be back here. It’s about the freedom. We know what we are capable of and trying to have a crack at it and see how it goes today. We are going with the same team,” Cummins said during the toss.
Contrary to their win over Team India in the World Cup final, the Pat Cummins-led side faced disappointment, falling to a seven-wicket defeat against the Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans, marking Sunrisers Hyderabad’s second loss of the season.
