IPL 2024: ‘Never Seen Home Captain Getting Booed Like That’ – Eoin Morgan on Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya was once again booed at Wankhede Stadium.
The former England captain Eoin Morgan admitted he had never witnessed a home team captain receiving boos akin to what Mumbai Indians’ Hardik Pandya endured at the Wankhede stadium on Monday, April 1.
Interestingly, the newly appointed captain of Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya, faced booing from the Wankhede Stadium crowd during the toss. It was so bad that even Sanjay Manjrekar had to ask the fans to ‘behave’.
During the pre-match show at StarSports, here’s what Eoin Morgan said:
“I’ve never seen a home captain getting booed like that.”
Hardik Pandya has previously faced booing from the crowd, including at his home ground in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium while playing against his former team, the Gujarat Titans. Additionally, he experienced trolling once again in Hyderabad.
Notably, hate, disdain and scepticism towards Hardik Pandya emerged among fans following his appointment as captain of the Mumbai Indians, replacing the highly successful five-time IPL-winning captain Rohit Sharma.
