IPL 2024: Mayank Yadav to Miss Playoffs? KL Rahul Provides Major Update on LSG Pacer

KL Rahul provides big update on Mayank Yadav.

Lucknow Super Giants’ injury woes deepened after their match against Mumbai Indians, with captain KL Rahul confirming that speedster Mayank Yadav experienced side pain and was forced to leave the field without completing his spell.

Here’s what KL Rahul said in the post-match conference:

“He had some pain in his sides. He said, ‘thoda dukh raha hai,’ so I asked him to leave. He is valuable for us. We need to take care of him.”

Mayank was making a comeback after missing five consecutive matches. Earlier, against the Gujarat Titans, he bowled just one over and left the field due to abdominal issues.

While LSG bowling coach Morne Morkel previously declared Mayank fit, his reduced pace and sudden exit during the Mumbai Indians match surely raised concerns about the severity of the injury.

“We are giving him a free hand,” Rahul added, acknowledging the need to manage Mayank’s workload.

Mayank’s fitness is crucial to LSG’s playoff aspirations. He impressed early in the season by clocking the fastest ball of IPL 2024 and picking up two back-to-back three-wicket hauls in just two games.

With playoffs approaching and the competition intensifying, the Super Giants will be closely monitoring Mayank Yadav’s recovery and hoping to have their pace spearhead back in action soon.
