IPL 2024 – Match 5: Shubman Gill to open, Williamson at three, GT’s Playing 11 vs MI
In the absence of Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma will step up to lead the charge.
Gujarat Titans (GT) will face Mumbai Indians (MI) in match 5 of IPL 2024 at their home ground Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 24th March, Sunday.
Gujarat Titans will step out onto the field under a new skipper Shubman Gill meanwhile Mumbai Indians will be led by former Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya whom they had traded in an all cash deal post the IPL 2024 auction.
Young Talents in Gujarat Titans:
Gujarat, led by a young captain, went on to acquire some exciting young talents from the auction. They spent heavily on Spencer Johnson, a left-arm pacer from Australia.
GT have also added the pace of Kartik Tyagi to their team and have bought Manav Suthar, a slow left-arm spinner who is also handy with the bat. As a replacement for Hardik Pandya, GT has brought in Azmatullah Omarzai, marking the third player from Afghanistan in this franchise after Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed.
Experienced Middle Order:
GT have an experienced middle order with the likes of David Miller, and Vijay Shankar and the return of Kane Williamson makes this team stronger, they have Matthew Wade as well although he is missing the first match as he is playing for Tasmania in the ongoing Sheffield Shield final.
Gujarat’s new addition Shah Rukh Khan is also an experienced middle order batter, he can be expected to take the finishing role along with Abhinav Manohar.
Rashid and Mohit To Lead The Bowling Attack in the Absence of Shami:
Mohhamad Shami has been ruled from the whole season and GT have replaced him with Sandeep Warrier but now in Shami’s absence Rashid and Mohit will look to lead the bowling attack of GT.
Their bowling has been a strength for them in both the seasons that they have played so far and for this season they have added the experience of Umesh Yadav into the mix, meanwhile their spin bowling remains sorted with Rashid, Noor, Sai Kishore and Manav Suthar.
