IPL 2024: CSK Pacer Mustafizur Rahman Returns to Bangladesh Mid-Tournament

Mustafizur Rahman will miss the upcoming game of CSK against SRH.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be without their overseas speedster Mustafizur Rahman for their upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) this Friday. Reports indicate he’s returned home to handle his US visa affairs in preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup, commencing June 2.

“Mustafizur arrived last night from the IPL for US visa purposes for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He will be giving his fingerprint at the US embassy tomorrow (April 4) and later will travel back to India to join Chennai,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus said as quoted by Cricbuzz on Wednesday.

With three matches under his belt in IPL 2024, the left-arm pacer has emerged as the frontrunner for the Purple Cap, having picked up seven wickets. Notably, he secured figures of 4/29 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the tournament opener, followed by 2/30 versus Gujarat Titans and 1/47 against Delhi Capitals.

There’s a possibility Rahman will rejoin the team either on Sunday or Monday. However, if his return is delayed until Monday, he’s expected to sit out of CSK‘s match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Rahman, 28, remains with the team until the end of April before gearing up for Bangladesh’s five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, beginning May 3.
