IPL 2023: Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, & Dwayne Bravo Not Part of Mini-Auction – Report
IPL 2023 Auction: Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne went unsold in the IPL 2022.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Thursday (December 1) confirmed that as many as 991 players have registered themselves for the upcoming IPL 2023 auction.
The mini-auction for the 16th edition of the will take place on December 23 in Kochi, where the 10 franchises will engage in a bidding war to build a formidable squad.
The maximum base price for a player in this year’s auction has been set at INR 2 Crore. Many big names like Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, Cameron Green, Kane Williamson, Nicholas Pooran, and Rassie van der Dussen have listed themselves in this category.
Former Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal, Kedar Jadhav, and Manish Pandey, have marked their base price of INR 1 crore while former Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane and Saurashtra pacer Jaydev Unadkat have reduced their base price to INR 50 Lakhs.
Meanwhile, the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne have not registered themselves for the showpiece event. The West Indies all-rounder was released by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL auction.
Australia’s star batters Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne went unsold in the mega-auction held earlier this year ahead of IPL 2022 and are likely to skip the 2023 edition of the cash-rich league to focus on the Ashes preparations.
