IPL 2023 Retention: Shardul Thakur Traded From Delhi Capitals (DC) to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Earlier Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) acquired the services of Lockie Ferguson and Rahmatullah Gurbaz for IPL 2023.
In a recent development, the Delhi Capitals (DC) traded all-rounder Shardul Thakur to two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction.
Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals failed to qualify for the playoffs last season despite assembling a decent squad in the IPL 2022 mega-auction, held earlier in February.
India’s pace all-rounder Shardul Thakur was one of their top buys at the auction ahead of IPL 2022 as they spent a whopping amount of INR 10.75 Crore to acquire his services.
However, Shardul failed to live up to the expectations as he managed to eke out only 15 wickets in 14 games at an average of 31.53 and an economy of 9.79 while with the bat, he accumulated 120 runs in 10 innings.
Notably, Thakur is the third player Kolkata Knight Riders have roped in via a trade, after getting the pair of Lockie Ferguson and Rahmatullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans a couple of days ago.
Earlier the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had asked all ten teams to submit the list of their retained and released players by November 15. The mini-auction for IPL 2023 is set to take place on December 23 in Kochi.
