IPL 2023: RCB’s Glenn Maxwell Fracture His Leg During Birthday Celebration
The news comes just four months ahead of the IPL 2023 season.
The Australian team has suffered another injury blow ahead of their busy summer as all-rounder Glenn Maxwell sustained a leg injury and has been ruled out of cricket action for at least three months.
As per a report published in Cricket Australia, Glenn Maxwell has broken his leg while he was attending a birthday party in Melbourne this weekend. He has been ruled out of the ODI series that England are set to play against Australia after the culmination of the ongoing T20 World Cup.
Australia’s selection chief George Bailey confirmed the setback, stating:
“As of now, Glenn is in very good spirits. The accident was an unfortunate one and we do feel for him as he was in great touch in his last few games. Glenn is a very critical part of our white ball structure and we will continue to support him through his recovery and rehabilitation process.”
Australian pacer Sean Abbott has been announced as Maxwell’s replacement for the ODI series against England. It will be the first assignment for Pat Cummins as a white-ball skipper after Aaron Finch announced his retirement from ODIs in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup.
Will Glenn Maxwell Play IPL 2023?
Earlier in the mega-auction, held in February RCB retained Glenn Maxwell for the whopping price of INR 11 Crore alongside their long-serving batter Virat Kohli and Mohammad Siraj.
Maxwell underwent a successful surgery on Sunday afternoon to reset his leg. He is expected to take two to three months to complete the recovery process.
The flamboyant Australian all-rounder will be available for selection from February 2023 while the cash-rich league will kick start in March next year.
