IPL 2023: Gujarat Titans Likely to Trade Lockie Ferguson For KKR’s Pacer Ahead of Mini-Auction

Gujarat Titans had signed Lockie Ferguson for INR 10 Crore in the mega-auction ahead of IPL 2022.

The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) are expected to trade New Zealand pacer, Lockie Ferguson for Shivam Mavi with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has opened the trade window with the interested franchises being required to submit a list of their retained and released players for IPL 2023 by November 15.

The Kiwi pacer was released by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the mega-auction held in February earlier this year. The 2022 champions Gujarat Titans roped in the paceman for the whopping amount of INR 10 Crore.

The New Zealand pacer, however, failed to live up to the expectations and could manage only 12 wickets in 13 matches as injury played a spoilsport in his tournament campaign and he had missed three matches for Gujarat.

As for Shivam Mavi, Gujarat Titans tried their best to get their hands on the uncapped pacer in the mega-auction. However, the KKR-based franchise won the bid and signed in Mavi for INR 7.25 Crore.

The 2018 U-19 World Cup pacer, however, got chances in bits for KKR as he played six matches for them in the 2022 edition of the cash-rich league, where he picked five wickets at an economy rate of 10.32.

All ten franchises have been asked to retain as many players as they can ahead of the mini-auction that is set to take place in December. The amount with which a released player was bought in the mega-auction will be added to the team’s overall purse for the mini-auction.
