IPL 2023: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Announce Replacement for Injured Kyle Jamieson

CSK purchased the Kyle Jamieson for INR 1 crore during IPL 2023 auction.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), on Sunday, March 19, has named Sisanda Magala as the replacement for New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

Jamieson, who was acquired by CSK for INR 1 Crore during IPL 2023 auction has ruled out of the entire tournament due to his everlasting back injury. Magala, who has played only 4 T20Is for the Proteas, will join the four-time IPL champions at his price of INR 50 lakhs.

CSK’s statement reads:

“The 32-year-old Magala has played 4 T20Is and 5 ODIs for South Africa. He has played 127 T20s overall, picking up 136 wickets. He was impressive in the recently concluded SA20, picking up 14 wickets in 12 matches helping his side Sunrisers Eastern Cape win the title.”

The 32-year-old South African fast bowler, who played under Aiden Markram’s leadership in SA20, picked up 14 wickets from 12 matches at an economy rate of 8.68, playing a vital role in his team’s success.

Magala was also adjudged the Player of the Match when South Africa defeated England by 27 runs in an ODI match back in January at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
