The Chennai Super Kings franchise have dealt with a massive blow ahead of their next match against Mumbai Indians as their ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has ruled out of the remaining season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 due to an injury.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the development to NDTV.

“Yes he is ruled out, he has a bruised rib. He is out of the IPL,” Viswanathan said.

“Ravindra Jadeja reported a bruised rib and was unavailable for Chennai Super Kings’ game against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. He was under observation and based on medical advice he has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL season,” an official CSK release stated.

Jadeja had a rather terrible season as he was handed the captaincy of the franchise before the commencement of the tournament as MS Dhoni decided to step down as the captain of CSK. However, he couldn’t handle the pressure of the captaincy and gave up on the leadership role in the midseason and requested MS Dhoni to take the charge of the team again.

The defending champions have so far managed only four wins in eleven games this season and they still have slight chances of making it to the playoffs but for that they need to win their remaining games and depend on the results of the other games as well.
