MS Dhoni has stepped down as captain of Chennai Super Kings just two days ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022. Ravindra Jadeja has been announced as the new captain of the 4-time IPL champions.

Under MS Dhoni, CSK established themselves as the most consistent and successful franchise in the league, qualifying for the play-offs every season barring one.

The wicketkeeper-batter guided the CSK to four Indian Premier League titles (2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021). As a captain, Dhoni has played 204 games and had won 121 games and he had a win percentage of 59.60.

“MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team.,” stated an official CSK release.

“Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK.

“Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond,” the release added.

With this, Ravindra Jadeja has become only third captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina, who was released by the franchise ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction.
