Kolkata Knight Riders’ spinner Varun Chakravarthy made a special record while playing against Delhi Capitals as he picked up the maiden five-wicket haul of his IPL career at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Chakravarthy destructed Delhi’s middle-order by dismissing big-hitters like Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shimron Hetmyer, while also accounting for wickets of Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel.

With this, Varun Chakravarthy became the second uncapped Indian player to take five wickets in an inning. For the first time in the 13th season of IPL, any bowler has taken five wickets in an inning. He took five wickets for 20 runs in four overs. Earlier, Ankit Rajput took 5/14 for Punjab against Hyderabad in 2018.

Varun Chakravarthy has become the second bowler to reach this feat for Kolkata after Sunil Narine. Narine took five wickets for 19 against Punjab in 2012.

As long as the match is concerned, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Delhi by 59 runs thanks to the brilliant half-century inning of Nitish Rana (81) and Sunil Narine (64) and the beautiful bowling spell of Varun Chakravarthy (5/20).

Batting first after losing the toss, Kolkata scored 194 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Delhi could only manage 135 runs after losing nine wickets and lost the match
