Stokes and Uthappa Gave a Brilliant Start to RR

Rajasthan started off chasing the target and opener Ben Stokes hit a quickfire 50 off 26 deliveries, while Robin Uthappa scored 30 off 23 balls. There was a 60-run opening partnership between the two. Stokes made his second fifty in the league. After this Sanju Samson scored 48, Steve Smith scored 31 runs for Rajasthan.

Murugan Ashwin and Chris Jordan took 1-1 wickets for Punjab. Ashwin dismissed Uthappa caught out by Nicholas Pooran, while Deepak Hooda took the catch of Stokes at Jordan’s delivery. Samson was runout by Jagdish Suchit.

Gayle Missed Century by 1 Run

Chris Gayle was dismissed by Joffra Archer for 99 off 63 deliveries. This was his 31st FIFTY in IPL. Gayle missed a century by 1 run for the second time in the league. Earlier in 2019, he was out for 99 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. This time Gayle had a chance to score his 7th century in the league, but Archer bowled him.

Kings XI Punjab Bad Start

Punjab scored 185 runs losing 4 wickets in the match. Punjab had started poorly, losing their first wicket for 1 run. Mandeep Singh was dismissed by Jofra Archer and caught by Ben Stokes without scoring a single run. After this, Gayle and Rahul managed the innings and played some brilliant shot on bad deliveries while respecting good ones. Gayle and Rahul made a 120 runs partnership for the second wicket.
