Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 59 runs in the 42nd match of the 13th season of IPL. Batting first after losing the toss, Kolkata gave a target of 195 runs. In reply, Delhi could only manage to score 135 runs for 9 wickets. Varun Chakravarthy gave the best performance of his IPL career. He took 5 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs. With this victory, Kolkata has strengthened its claim to the play-offs.

DC’s skipper Shreyas Iyer scored the most 47 runs for Delhi. Apart from him, Rishabh Pant scored 27 runs. At the same time, apart from Varun for KKR, Pat Cummins got 3 and Lockie Ferguson got one wicket in the match.

Kolkata Scored 194 Runs For 6 Wickets

After losing the toss and invited to bat first, Kolkata got some early shocks but due to fifty of Nitish Rana (81) and Sunil Narine (64), Kolkata scored 194 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. This is Rana’s 10th IPL and Naren’s fourth fifty. Apart from this, Eoin Morgan was dismissed on 17 runs by Kagiso Rabada. Delhi’s Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada and Marcus Stoinis got 2-2 wickets.

Kolkata Lost 2 Wickets in The Power-Play

Kolkata sends Nitish Rana to open with Shubman Gill. Gill could only score 9 runs and caught by Axar Patel on the ball of Anrich Nortje. After this, Rahul Tripathi (13) was also bowled by Nortje. Kolkata scored 36 for 2 in the power-play. After this, Dinesh Karthik could score only 3 runs and Kagiso Rabada send him back to the pavilion.

Sunil Narine-Nitish Rana 100+ Runs Partnership

Nitish Rana and Sunil Narine handled the innings after Kolkata lost 3 wickets early in the power-play. Both played vigorously, hitting fours and sixes on a bad ball. The two made a 115-run partnership for the fourth wicket which helps Kolkata Knight Riders to challenge Delhi Capitals with a huge target of 195 runs.
