Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by five-wicket on Tuesday. With this win, their chances of qualifying the playoffs are still alive. It was Punjab’s third consecutive win.

After this win, they moved to the fifth spot in the points table of IPL 2020 with crucial eight points.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, DC posted 164 runs on the board. Chasing 165, Kings XI Punjab marked an easy win with an over remaining.

KL Rahul (15 off 11) couldn’t do much for the team as he got dismissed early. Chris Gayle then entered the field and done his job for the team as he smashed 29 runs off just 13 deliveries with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes. He got bowled by R. Ashwin on the second ball of the sixth over. Soon after his departure, Mayank Agarwal also got run out in the same over. Nicholas Pooran then came in the show and played a match-winning inning for his side as he smashed 53 runs off just 28 balls. He got dismissed in the 13th over.

Glenn Maxwell also showed satisfactory performance after so long. He scored 32 runs off 24 balls with the help of 3 fours but he got dismissed in the 16th over, after which Deepak Hooda and Jimmy Neesham helped their side in marking the third consecutive and fourth overall victory.

Speaking in the post-match conference, Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul expressed his joy after the third consecutive win. He also hailed his teammates for their brilliant performance. He also said that they would try to maintain the same momentum for the further matches.

“Especially when you play with 6 batters and one all-rounder. One of the top four had to do the job. One thing that we need to look at. Shami was coming in after some confidence from the last game. Arshdeep bowled two overs in the powerplay and one over at the death. And he nailed 6 yorkers. Glenn has been batting well in the nets. He is a great team man and we know the balance he brings to the table,” said KL Rahul.

“The talk before the last couple of games was to beat two teams were at the top of the points table. I couldn’t sleep after the last game. We could have finished it before and not allowed it to go into the super over. The game reminds us to stay humble. We would want to take the momentum forward and take it one game at a time,” he concluded.
