Team India suffered a huge blow ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022 as their ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the marquee event after sustaining a serious back stress fracture injury.

If reports are to be believed, the pacer isn’t needed to undergo any surgery but it will take him four to six months to recover from the serious fracture.

“Bumrah is not going to play the World T20 for sure. He has a serious back condition. It’s a stress fracture and he could be out for a period of six months,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

While an official update on their premier pacer from the Board of Control from Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaited, the things have not panned out well as Bumrah earlier ruled out of series opener against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.

Bumrah, who had also missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to his back problem, and was recovering at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, played the last two T20Is against Australia but didn’t look in a great shape.

Notably, it the second big setback for team India heading into the World Cup 2022 as earlier their ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is recovering from a knee surgery ruled out of the marquee event.
