India’s Ace Spinner Ruled Out of Third ODI against Australia, World Cup Appearance in Doubt

Axar Patel last played their international match in the recent concluded Asia Cup 2023

Team India all-rounder Axar Patel has been reportedly ruled out of the upcoming third and final ODI against Australia, which is scheduled to take place in Rajkot on Wednesday, September 27.

The left-arm spinner’s most recent international outing was in the 2023 Asia Cup Super Four stage, where India narrowly succumbed to Bangladesh in Sri Lanka. After that, he got sidelined due to a hamstring injury.

The team management had confirmed Axar’s injury as a left quadriceps strain, and later he was left out of the squad for the first two ODIs against Australia. Cricbuzz, on Monday, reported that his condition hasn’t improved sufficiently for him to participate in the final ODI.

With Axar Patel sidelined, Team India drafted Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar into the squad. Should Axar’s availability for the World Cup remain uncertain, Ashwin and Sundar are prime candidates to step in for the prestigious event.
