India Women will play a five match T20I series at home against Sri Lanka later this month. The change comes after Bangladesh’s December white ball tour was postponed because of political tensions in their country.
The BCCI confirmed that the free window will now be used to give Harmanpreet Kaur and her team more game time before a busy 2026 season.
BCCI announces the schedule for the upcoming IDFC FIRST Bank Women’s T20I series as India hosts Sri Lanka for a five match contest next month. The series will begin in Visakhapatnam before moving to Thiruvananthapuram for the remaining fixtures.
The series will run from December 21 to 30. The first two matches will be played in Visakhapatnam. The last three will be held in Thiruvananthapuram.

- December 21 – 1st T20I at Visakhapatnam
- December 23 – 2nd T20I at Visakhapatnam
- December 26 – 3rd T20I at Thiruvananthapuram
- December 28 – 4th T20I at Thiruvananthapuram
- December 30 – 5th T20I at Thiruvananthapuram
This stretch of games is important because India are working toward the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at home. The selectors will name the squad next week. Many young players are hoping for a chance, while senior names look to sharpen their form.
India enter this series in good shape. They won the ODI World Cup 2025 at home and followed it with T20I series wins over West Indies and England. These results have built confidence after a poor group stage exit in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
