He joined Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the elite group of Indian players to reach this landmark.

Globally, England’s Joe Root leads with 6080 runs, followed by Australia’s Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne.

Rahul reached this landmark on Day 1 of the second Test against the West Indies on Friday. India made a solid start, finishing the day at 318/2.

After choosing to bat, the openers carefully put on a 58-run partnership. KL Rahul was dismissed for 38 by Jomel Warrican, who claimed the first wicket of the day.

Yashasvi Jaiswal played a brilliant knock, ending the day unbeaten on 173 from 253 balls, including 22 fours. Sai Sudharsan supported him with 87 off 165 balls, hitting 12 boundaries.

The pair shared a 193-run partnership that frustrated the West Indies bowlers. After Sudharsan’s dismissal, Shubman Gill joined Jaiswal at the crease.

Both remained not out at stumps, keeping India in a strong position. The West Indies attack struggled to make breakthroughs, with Warrican taking two wickets, while the other bowlers failed to build pressure.
