IND vs SA 2025: Gautam Gambhir Praises Rohit-Kohli, Lauds Promising Indian Youngsters

India beat South Africa 2-1 as Kohli and Rohit shined and young pacers impressed under Gambhir’s long term ODI plan.

India’s 2-1 ODI series win over South Africa felt like a strong message for the next World Cup cycle. The team mixed the experience of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli with fresh talent, and the blend worked smoothly across three games.

Kohli was the standout batter. He smashed two centuries and a fifty and looked very close to the form he showed in 2015. His calm presence in chases and total control against pace and spin earned him Player of the Series.

Rohit added solid starts at the top with fluent half-centuries. He looked settled and reminded everyone why he is still vital in white ball cricket. With both senior batters scoring freely, India rarely looked under pressure.

Gautam Gambhir praised the pair after the nine wicket win in the final ODI. He said, “Look, they’re quality players. I’ve said it many times as well that they’re world class players. They are quality players in this format and their experience is really important in the dressing room.” He added that their form will stay important for India in both ODI and T20 cricket.

India entered the series without Bumrah, Siraj, Gill and Hardik. This turned the contest into a chance to test the bench strength. Gambhir was happy with how the youngsters stepped up and said it gave clarity for the road to the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Young Pacers Impress

Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna delivered tight spells in tough moments. Both have played fewer than 15 ODIs but handled the workload like seasoned bowlers. Gambhir called their effort “fabulous” and said they showed great fight under pressure.

Harshit Rana was another positive story. Gambhir explained why he backed him in the lower order. “That’s one of the reasons why we are trying to probably develop someone like Harshit, who can actually bat at No. 8 and contribute with a bat.” He believes a capable No. 8 can help India’s balance in long tournaments.

The bowlers supported the senior batters perfectly. Their control in the middle overs helped India stay on top even without their regular attack.

India now look set for a smooth transition into the next ODI cycle. With Rohit and Kohli still leading from the front, and a group of exciting young bowlers growing fast under Gambhir’s vision, the team seems ready for bigger challenges ahead.
