IND vs ENG: Major Blow for India! BCCI Reveals Rishabh Pant’s Injury Status
BCCI gives injury update after Rishabh Pant hurts finger and walks off during Day 1 of 3rd Test at Lord’s.
Team India vice-captain Rishabh Pant was forced to leave the field midway through Day 1 of the third Test against England at Lord’s on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the second session when Pant appeared to injure his left index finger while collecting a delivery behind the stumps.
The 27-year-old looked in discomfort and received treatment on the field before walking off with the team physio. Wicketkeeping duties were then taken over by Dhruv Jurel, who came in as a substitute.
Pant Under Medical Supervision, Says BCCI
Soon after the injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided an update on social media.
The board confirmed that Pant is under the observation of the medical team and is receiving treatment for the finger injury. If his condition does not improve, he may undergo scans after the day’s play.
There is no word yet on whether Pant will return later in the match. Pant has been in excellent form throughout the series.
He scored centuries in both innings of the first Test at Headingley and followed it up with a quickfire 65 at Edgbaston in the second match.
Fans will now be hoping the injury is not serious, especially with Pant playing a key role both as a batter and behind the stumps in this closely contested series.
