IND vs ENG: Jasprit Bumrah Injured! India’s Bowling Woes Deepen
Bumrah walks off mid-spell in 4th Test, later seen in mismatched shoes; ankle twist confirmed by Ravi Shastri.
Team India was dealt another blow during the fourth Test in Manchester as Jasprit Bumrah walked off the field right after taking the second new ball.
With England already in full control, fans were left wondering if India’s pace spearhead had picked up an injury.
It all unfolded late in the second session. Bumrah returned for a fresh spell with the new ball but lasted just one over. He leaked 11 runs and was quickly replaced by debutant Anshul Kamboj.
A few minutes later, Bumrah was spotted off the field, sparking panic and speculation about a possible injury.
What happened to Bumrah?
Ravi Shastri, speaking on-air, revealed that Bumrah had twisted his ankle, not while bowling, but while walking down the stairs in the dressing room.
Though the injury wasn’t considered serious, it was enough to keep him off the field for a chunk of the session.
Under ICC rules, a bowler who has spent more than eight minutes off the field cannot bowl again until they’ve spent the same time back on the ground.
Bumrah was off for close to 30 minutes, which made him ineligible to bowl again before Tea.
He did return before the session ended but didn’t take the ball again. Commentators also noticed he was wearing mismatched shoes, one blue, one white, suggesting some last-minute adjustments were being made to manage the niggle.
To make things worse, Mohammed Siraj was seen limping and eventually left the field too, adding more trouble to India’s already tiring bowling unit.
With England building a big lead, India’s pace options suddenly looked thin, and Bumrah’s fitness might play a big role in how this Test ends.
